Role-Playing

28 stories
Games belong under Role-Playing when character growth through statistics and abilities, equipment-led builds and quest structures and narrative choice are central rather than occasional side features. Individual releases can differ sharply in party or companion management and exploration and combat systems while retaining the same underlying identity.
The boundary for Role-Playing is mechanical: neighbouring genres may share themes or progression systems while organising player decisions differently. For Role-Playing, reviews and explainers can examine mechanical conventions without treating one famous game as the model for every release.
