Chorus Worldwide and Osaka-based Indie-us Games have released a Steam demo for UNDEFEATED: Genesis. A new trailer shows free flight, fast movement and superpowered combat ahead of the game's 2027 launch on Steam and PlayStation 5.

UNDEFEATED: Genesis has moved beyond announcement footage. Players can now try it for themselves. Chorus Worldwide and Osaka-based Indie-us Games have released a Steam demo alongside a new trailer focused on free flight, fast movement, combat and exploration across the alien world of Voltissia.

The demo arrives

The demo is available now on Steam. The full game is planned for Steam and PlayStation 5 in 2027. The announcement came during PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct 2026 on 20 September 2026. That gives players a more useful way to judge the game's superhero premise than another showcase appearance. PC Gamer and TechRadar both identified the event as a 20 September 2026 presentation, placing the demo reveal within the scheduled show rather than treating it as a separate trailer release.

SteamDB lists the release as a separate UNDEFEATED: Genesis Demo, not just promotional video content. It has its own App ID, 4833720, is listed as free on the Steam store and supports Windows. SteamDB first recorded the app on 9 June 2026. That provides a clear technical and chronological marker for the demo.

The distinction matters. The available material is promotional, and the source does not describe the demo's scope or confirm how closely it represents the finished game. There are no published performance targets, measurements, pricing details, edition plans or review assessments to show how the game will behave beyond the demo. SteamDB's metadata also describes the demo as prerelease and, in the relevant database snapshot, marks it as coming soon. That does not cancel out the separate confirmation that the playable demo is available through Steam. It does show that this is not the finished game.

The confirmed numbers are limited but useful. UNDEFEATED: Genesis is scheduled for 2027 on two named platforms. Its story takes place 500 years after a mysterious explosion destroyed Voltissia's civilisation.

Flight meets combat

Players control Albert Hartree, known as Al. He is a young man transported to Voltissia after dreaming of becoming a hero. When he awakens with extraordinary powers, he joins the Enelf survivors of the civilisation destroyed five hundred years earlier. He then works to protect them, uncover the planet's history and find a way home.

Flight is not a side activity. The developers describe movement between the ground and sky as a central part of traversal and combat. Al can cover large distances quickly, attack enemies from the air and carry a fight across different elevations. PC Gamer also points to free flight, laser attacks and exploration of Voltissia as the demo's defining superhero elements. The trailer makes that focus clear, even though it cannot prove how deep the final combat system will be.

Players unlock new abilities through battle. These powers are meant to expand movement and combat options. Al will face mutants and other dangers in a world where lush wilderness sits beside shattered cities and unfamiliar lifeforms.

That gives the demo a clear job. It needs to show whether free movement leads to meaningful exploration. It also needs to show whether aerial attacks feel like part of the combat system rather than a separate showcase trick. The source confirms the intended design, but not the number of powers, missions, enemies or activities in the playable version.

From viral game to RPG

UNDEFEATED: Genesis follows the spirit of the original UNDEFEATED, a free superhero game that the announcement says was played by millions worldwide. The new project is presented as a fully new premium Action RPG with deeper progression, a larger world and more focus on exploration, combat and player freedom.

This is a major expansion of the original idea, not a simple content update. The first game provides the name and superhero foundation. Genesis adds a story-led journey, progression systems and a ruined alien setting. Readers interested in how smaller projects can grow into larger role-playing ambitions may also see a similar approach in another 2027 RPG reveal, where one distinctive mechanic helps shape the wider experience.

Indie-us Games is developing the project through its internal UNDEFEATED Games team. The Osaka studio is described as having experience with Unreal Engine production. Chorus Worldwide is handling publishing from Tokyo. SteamDB records the same developer and publisher roles for the demo and confirms Windows support, but the source does not give a more specific engine version or technical breakdown.

What remains unknown

The announcement establishes the game's broad identity but leaves practical buying questions open. There is no confirmed launch date beyond 2027. The price is also unknown, as are console performance modes. The announcement does not say whether the Steam demo will later appear on PlayStation 5.

The trailer cannot answer questions about final image quality, frame pacing, loading behaviour or stability. Those details require testing on the relevant hardware and cannot be inferred from edited footage. The same caution applies to world scale, progression depth and enemy variety. The announcement describes systems and locations without giving their eventual scope.

For now, the strongest evidence is a playable Steam demo built around free flight. That makes UNDEFEATED: Genesis more than a distant concept. Its biggest promises remain unverified until a fuller build is available. The project has chosen a sensible test. It lets players feel the movement system before asking them to trust a release slogan.

Free flight can also expose technical weaknesses that a grounded action game might hide. Streaming a large world while the player moves quickly can put pressure on loading and frame pacing. Frame pacing means the consistency of frame delivery, not just the headline average. The current announcement gives no measurements, so the demo should be treated as an early look at the design rather than proof of final performance. Even with that limit, the release is a credible step for a premium superhero RPG. Its success will depend on making movement and combat work together instead of merely looking impressive in a trailer.
