Our coverage focuses on games, platforms and gaming technology that matter to players in the United Kingdom, the United States and the wider English-speaking gaming audience.

NGB may publish:

• explainers about upcoming games and platform developments;
• reviews, verdicts, technical verdicts and re-reviews;
• rankings, comparisons and recommendation-based lists;

• Early Access, demo, alpha and beta coverage;
• release calendars and practical player guides;
• platform-specific reporting for Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo;
• selected coverage of consoles, handhelds, PCs, components and gaming peripherals;
• author-led analysis, opinion and Hype Check assessments.

We may also cover developers, publishers, platform owners, gaming services and industry decisions when those subjects have a clear effect on games, availability, performance, player experience or value.

NGB is not intended to cover every area of entertainment or consumer technology. Our main focus remains games, gaming platforms and products or services with a direct connection to gaming.

Our Editorial Approach

NGB publishes sourced gaming news, first-hand reviews and clearly labelled analysis and opinion across games, platforms and technical performance.

Our articles should help readers understand:

• what has been officially announced;
• which claims come from developers, publishers or platform owners;
• which details have been independently observed, documented or tested;
• what remains speculative, incomplete or subject to change;
• how regional, platform or hardware differences may affect the experience;
• whether a release appears ready for its intended audience;
• whether marketing claims are supported by the available evidence.

We distinguish confirmed information from rumours, predictions, interpretation and opinion. Promotional language should be attributed to its source rather than repeated as an established fact without appropriate support.

Reviews and hands-on articles may claim first-hand experience only when a human contributor genuinely accessed the relevant game, build, platform or product. When access or testing was limited, that limitation should be made clear where it affects the conclusion.

Future Games and Real Opinions

Upcoming games are central to NGB, but future-focused publishing requires care. Release dates can move, features can change, technical targets can be revised and promotional demonstrations may not represent a final retail build.

Our future-games coverage may examine:

• official trailers and gameplay presentations;
• developer, publisher and platform statements;
• confirmed platforms and release windows;
• available technical information;
• previews, demos and test builds;
• development risks and unanswered questions;
• player expectations and the evidence behind the surrounding hype.

An editorial prediction, readiness assessment or Hype Check is not a guarantee of final quality. It is an assessment based on the information and evidence available at the time.

When an article discusses an unfinished product, it should reflect the limitations of that stage rather than presenting provisional features or performance as final.

Reviews, Verdicts and Rankings

NGB publishes reviews, verdicts, comparisons and rankings where they provide practical value to readers.

Reviews may consider gameplay, design, performance, stability, progression, accessibility, content, pricing and platform-specific experience. Rankings may use numerical criteria, category-based evaluation or clearly stated editorial judgement depending on the subject.

A review represents the tested version, platform and circumstances available to the reviewer. It does not guarantee that every reader, device or later version of the game will produce the same experience.

Commercial arrangements do not provide approval rights over reviews, rankings, corrections or unrelated editorial coverage.

Paid visibility does not determine editorial ranking position.

Advertising and Commercial Activity

NGB may display advertising, including programmatic advertising delivered through Google AdSense or related Google advertising services.

An advertisement displayed near an article does not necessarily mean that NGB has a direct relationship with the advertiser, has tested the advertised product or endorses its claims.

NGB does not currently operate an affiliate programme and does not currently publish sponsored articles or partner content as a regular commercial format.

Advertisers cannot purchase:

• a positive review;
• a favourable verdict;
• a higher ranking position;
• an editorial recommendation;
• the removal of legitimate criticism;
• control over corrections or editorial conclusions.

Commercial proposals are considered separately from normal editorial decisions. Paying for advertising does not create a right to coverage or influence over unrelated articles.

Use of AI

NGB may use AI-generated imagery for selected article covers and illustrations.

AI-generated images must not be presented as:

• official gameplay screenshots;
• developer-supplied artwork;
• authentic documentary photography;
• evidence that an event occurred;
• a real image of a person, product or location where that presentation would mislead readers.

NGB does not currently use AI for article drafting, translation, source summarisation or news monitoring. AI must not be used to invent sources, quotations, people, events, credentials, documents or first-hand experience.

Human editors remain responsible for the meaning, accuracy, context and presentation of published material.

Who We Serve

NGB primarily serves English-speaking readers who follow upcoming games, gaming platforms and technical performance.

Our audience may include:

• players deciding which games to follow, purchase or avoid;
• PC players concerned with performance and system requirements;
• Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo users following platform developments;
• players evaluating demos, betas and Early Access releases;
• readers seeking context beyond trailers and promotional announcements;

• researchers and analysts looking for attributable editorial perspectives.

Articles should remain understandable to general readers while providing enough detail for readers who already know the subject. Technical language should be explained where it is important to the conclusion.

Our History

Next-Gen Gaming Blog was founded in 2011 as part of the UK gaming-blog scene, with historical connections to WENB, Winning Eleven Blog, Kitana Media Network and the later Next Gen Base identity.

From its original launch, NGB operated within the gaming-media space and developed its coverage around games, platforms, releases, performance and the wider player experience.

In 2026, NGB was relaunched under a new editorial team as the next stage in the development of the existing publication. The relaunch preserved the site’s established history, brand and core gaming focus while introducing updated editorial sections, topic hubs, author pages and publishing standards.

The site’s history therefore begins in 2011. The 2026 relaunch marks a new editorial stage rather than a new founding date, and it does not imply that the current team or current ownership held the same roles throughout the publication’s earlier history.

Ownership and Editorial Responsibility

Next-Gen Gaming Blog is owned and published by Chris Slate, who also serves as Founder and Editor.

Editorial responsibility includes topic selection, publishing standards, corrections oversight and keeping commercial arrangements separate from editorial decisions.
