Star Wars Jedi Part 3 and KOTOR Remake Target 2027

Star Wars leaker FivesWalker says Respawn's next Jedi game could arrive in 2027, while the Knights of the Old Republic remake may follow in late 2027 or early 2028. Neither window has been confirmed.

Two major Star Wars games may be heading toward the same release window. Star Wars leaker FivesWalker claims Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Part 3 is planned for 2027. The leaker also points to late 2027 or early 2028 for the long-delayed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake.

The reported release window

FivesWalker's claim is not an official announcement. The leaker is said to have a decent track record, though. The report puts Star Wars Jedi: Part 3 first, with a possible launch next year. It may also be announced before The Game Awards on December 10.

That reported timing is separate from the game's official status. Electronic Arts confirmed in September 2024 that Respawn Entertainment is developing a third Star Wars Jedi game. According to Reuters' report on EA's statement, the company has not announced the game's title, release window, platforms or reveal date. EA did say the project will be the "final chapter" of Cal Kestis's story. That remains the clearest public description of the sequel.

A fall 2027 release would give Respawn about four and a half years to make the sequel. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched in April 2023. That would be close to the time Respawn spent making Survivor after Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

The same leak is more hopeful than the public comments around KOTOR. Steve Allison, Saber Interactive's Chief Business Officer, previously said the remake was hopefully part of the company's 2028 lineup. FivesWalker's late 2027 or early 2028 window is therefore still a leak based estimate, not a confirmed schedule. Saber has given only a broad timeframe. No firm launch date has been announced.

Two very different projects

Star Wars Jedi: Part 3 would continue Respawn's single player action series about Cal Kestis. EA has confirmed that the third game is in development. It has also said the game is meant to be the final chapter of Cal's story.

An earlier rumour from Tom Henderson suggested that the next game could feature an older Cal. That detail has not been confirmed in the supplied information. It should not be treated as part of the reported release plan.

The KOTOR remake has a messier production history. It was announced at The Game Awards 2021 before moving away from Aspyr. Since then, public comments about the project have been cautious, and no firm launch date has been given.

Embracer said in 2023 that development was still ongoing. That pushed back against speculation that the remake had been canceled. The statement did not provide a release schedule.

The dates help explain why early 2028 looks more likely than late 2027. KOTOR was announced in 2021. Saber has pointed toward 2028, while the latest leak gives a broad window covering late 2027 and early 2028.

None of this confirms a platform launch, a final release day or the current state of development. Reuters' reporting also indicates that Saber Interactive and Embracer have not issued a formal release schedule.

Momentum without certainty

Star Wars is already getting a steady run of video game releases. BitReactor's XCOM inspired STAR WARS Zero Company and Fuse's racing game STAR WARS: Galactic Racer were described as solid and fun. Wccftech reviewer Chris Wray praised both games in his reviews.

That output gives the franchise momentum. It does not remove the risks around an unconfirmed schedule. Star Wars Jedi: Part 3 is officially in development, but its 2027 timing, title, platforms and reveal date remain unknown.

The KOTOR remake also carries the expectations tied to one of the most beloved games in the franchise's history. Its developers and publishers have not provided a formal launch schedule.

For players, the difference is clear. The Jedi sequel is an officially confirmed project with a reported 2027 target. It may be revealed before the year ends. The KOTOR remake has a public expectation around 2028, along with a leak suggesting it could arrive sooner.

Those are useful signals. They are not release commitments.

What players should expect

The strongest evidence points to a busy Star Wars game calendar, not two locked launch dates. Respawn's sequel has a development timeline that makes a 2027 release plausible. Saber Interactive has already linked the KOTOR remake to 2028.

The leak adds urgency to both stories. It does not replace an announcement from the developers or their publishers.

There is no confirmed information here about platforms, editions, pricing, gameplay systems or the remake's current build. The older Cal rumour is separate from the release window claim. A possible announcement for Star Wars Jedi: Part 3 also does not prove that the game is ready to show.

EA's only firm public guidance beyond the project's existence is that it will be the final chapter of Cal Kestis's story.

A release window is a development target, not proof that a game is finished. Projects can move as production milestones, testing and certification change. Even a leaker with accurate past claims cannot guarantee a future date.

Based on the information available, 2027 and early 2028 are worth watching. Neither game has a confirmed release label yet.
