HoYoverse will release Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.6 on 28 September 2026 in Asia and Europe. North America will get the update on 27 September because of the time-zone difference, with Pearl, a new Life Sciences Institute storyline and several limited-time events.
Planarcadia's survival will be tested inside the Life Sciences Institute when Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.6 arrives on 28 September 2026. HoYoverse has built the update around an investigation into a plan to weaponise the husk. The Trailblazer will work with Pearl and Nihilux, who recently revealed that she is Aha, the Aeon of Elation.
The official Honkai: Star Rail account has scheduled the Version 4.6 special program, titled Dance With the Beast Before Moonrise, for 20 September 2026 at 19:30 (UTC+8). The broadcast will show Pearl and other features coming with the update. The patch is set to launch eight days later: 28 September for Asia and Europe, and 27 September for the North American server because of the time-zone difference.
A dangerous investigation
The Institute is described as the source of all imagenae in Astropolis. It operates under Madam Yabuli, head of the IPC's Technology Department. Yabuli's plan would put every life in Planarcadia at risk. The story also connects the Institute to a mysterious faction linked to the Voracity.
Pearl plans to use the recovery of Leviathan Essence as cover for a coordinated operation. Kuchiba and Ashveil will investigate the Institute with the Trailblazer and Nihilux. What looks like a recovery mission will become an attempt to break up the wider conspiracy. The story follows directly from the previous chapter's revelation about Nihilux and Aha.
The conflict also builds on Pearl's role in Planarcadia. As its chief executive, she arranged for residents to evacuate aboard the Astral Express when the Voracity threat emerged. She stayed behind to oversee the encanvasing ritual. Version 4.6 will put her beside the Trailblazer as the story examines how Preservation and Art can meet around the same idea.
Pearl joins the roster
Pearl will be a playable five-star Ice character who follows the Path of Elation. The official announcement identifies her as the new five-star Ice heroine for Version 4.6. Her kit uses the same contrast that shapes her character: careful calculation on one side and a highly theatrical approach to art on the other. In combat, she can spend Certified Banger to reduce some of the damage taken by all allies.
Her Deep Learning state records combat data from a selected teammate. It then gives Pearl a matching Enhanced ATK. If that teammate follows Elation, the attack also deals extra Elation damage. A full Elation team adds another effect. The selected teammate gets an extra turn, along with a large supply of Punchline and Certified Banger.
Pearl is therefore more than a standard damage dealer. Her value depends on how well a team can feed her combat data and make use of the Elation bonuses. The supplied announcement does not give numerical scaling, energy costs, cooldowns or final damage values. Those details will matter more for team building than the broad ability descriptions available now.
Events and banner plans
Version 4.6 will raise the drop rates for Pearl and the limited five-star Light Cone Colors for Tomorrow. Evanescia will return in the first half of the update. Mortenax Blade will follow in the second half. HoYoverse has not released a fuller schedule or any pricing information in the announcement.
The event line-up covers a lot of ground. In Love, Ghosts & Robots, the Trailblazer will help the resurrected Skott run a mechatron workshop. Players will assemble and sell mechatrons while working toward a five-star workshop rating. Interastral Peace Gala: One Take will add a large combat reality-show event. Astral Imagea will bring collectible companions for adventures and co-operative Astral Slammers Squad! challenges.
Hyacine's Warm Cotton Skies outfit and Evanescia's Lunar Blossoming outfit will also arrive in the Outfit Show Window. Readers following HoYoverse's wider release cycle can compare this update with earlier coverage of another game that uses character relationships as a major gameplay hook. What comes next
The plans extend beyond Version 4.6. HoYoverse has announced a Razer collaboration featuring a Silver Wolf LV.999-themed gaming chair, keyboard, mouse and headset peripherals. The products are planned for release in several regions at the same time. More details have not been provided.
The company has also announced the next crossover stage for Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero. Ellen and Astra Yao will enter the cosmic adventure in Version 4.8. The announcement does not explain their roles, abilities or banner timing. Their arrival is confirmed, but players do not yet have the practical details needed to plan for it.
Honkai: Star Rail is available on PC, iOS, Android, Epic Games Store and PS5. HoYoverse says the game has passed 150 million total downloads across all platforms. Version 4.6 is aimed at that large existing audience, with Pearl's team-focused kit, the Life Sciences Institute and the event schedule providing the main reasons to return.
