Hololive Dreams has arrived on iOS, Android and PC, blending rhythm gameplay with RPG progression and featuring over 150 tracks and 54 hololive VTubers as playable characters, aiming to broaden the appeal of rhythm games

Hololive Dreams has officially launched, bringing a hybrid of rhythm and RPG mechanics to iOS, Android and PC/Steam. Developed in collaboration with COVER, the game is built around the hololive VTuber agency and is designed to attract both rhythm-game enthusiasts and those less familiar with the genre. The project aims to expand the traditional rhythm game formula by integrating RPG-style progression and a theme park management layer, making it accessible to a wider audience.

Gameplay Structure and Progression

Set on a virtual uninhabited island, Hololive Dreams tasks players with building and expanding their own theme park. Progression is tied directly to rhythm-based challenges, with each successful performance unlocking new areas and features within the park. The development team has emphasised that the rhythm gameplay is woven into the broader game loop, providing objectives and incentives beyond simply clearing songs. This approach is intended to motivate players who might not typically engage with rhythm games, offering a sense of purpose and ongoing development.

Beyond the core rhythm gameplay, Hololive Dreams includes four additional mini games spanning different genres. These range from a large-scale rope skipping challenge and a match-three puzzle involving food ingredients, to a 16-player obstacle course and a card game that blends elements of poker and Mahjongg. These mini games are designed to add variety and broaden the appeal of the overall experience.

Music Library and VTuber Integration

At launch, Hololive Dreams features a substantial music library, with over 150 tracks available. This includes both original songs and covers, with each of the 54 hololive talents represented by at least two tracks-one original and one cover-alongside a selection of ensemble performances. The development team has stated that this extensive song list is a deliberate move to compete in Japan's crowded rhythm game market, where a large and diverse music catalogue is often expected by players.

All 54 hololive VTubers are available as playable characters, with the game structured so that each talent receives equal representation. The team worked closely with the VTubers to select cover songs that would resonate with a Japanese audience, while also ensuring that ensemble tracks provide additional variety. The first two areas of the theme park-Harmony Garden and the Mega Sphere-are available at launch, with future updates planned to introduce new areas and rotate the spotlight among different talents.

Live Events and Platform Focus

Hololive Dreams is structured as a live-service title, with regular in-game events scheduled to maintain player engagement. According to the developers, players can expect around three events per month, with a particular focus on the mobile versions of the game. These events will often revolve around nurturing and developing VTuber characters, with higher scores awarded for talents that have been grown through repeated play. Competitive elements, such as live concert score rankings, are also planned as part of the ongoing event schedule.

While Hololive Dreams is available on PC via Steam, the event cadence and progression systems are primarily tailored for mobile play. This approach reflects broader trends in the Japanese market, where mobile rhythm games have established a strong foothold. For comparison, storage requirements and platform-specific features have become increasingly important for players, as seen in other recent releases such as the Final Fantasy 14 Switch 2 launch, which raised questions about device storage and accessibility.

Release Timing and Future Content

Hololive Dreams was released globally on 23 July 2026 for iOS, Android and PC/Steam. At launch, all 54 VTubers are accessible, and the first two theme park areas are open to players. The development team has confirmed that additional areas will be added post-launch, each focusing on a smaller group of talents to ensure balanced representation. Major updates are planned to introduce new content and keep the experience evolving over time.

With its blend of rhythm gameplay, RPG progression and live-service structure, Hololive Dreams is positioned to appeal to both existing hololive fans and newcomers to the genre. The game's extensive music library and regular event schedule are intended to provide ongoing reasons to return, while the integration of mini games and character development systems adds further depth.

Live-service games like Hololive Dreams rely on a regular schedule of updates and events to maintain player interest. This model typically involves the release of new content, limited-time challenges and competitive events, all designed to encourage ongoing engagement. For players, understanding the cadence of these updates and the structure of in-game events is key to making the most of the experience, especially when progression and rewards are tied to participation in live content.
