Microsoft opened $49.99 pre-orders for its compact XBOX Nano Controller on October 14, ahead of a November launch. A temporary discount puts the full-size controller below it in price.

At just over five inches long, the Nano is built for players who want a smaller controller on the move. Microsoft unveiled it on October 14, 2026, and opened pre-orders that day at $49.99 ahead of a planned November launch.

The compact design comes at a price. Microsoft has temporarily cut the full-size XBOX Wireless Controller by 25%, making it cheaper than the Nano.

The Nano measures about 12.7 cm and weighs 3.5 ounces, or roughly 99 grams. Xbox describes it as the smallest controller in its history. It has a rechargeable battery and a programmable Action Button. Players can assign the button to screenshots or gameplay recording. It can also launch a frequently used shortcut.

Microsoft lists the standard XBOX Wireless Controller at $65. The Xbox Store discount lowers that price, but Microsoft has not provided the checkout total. Buyers will need to check the store to see the actual saving.

The Nano is priced at $49.99 in the United States. Its planned launch is in November 2026, though Microsoft has not announced an exact day. Regional prices vary: Xbox Japan lists an indicative price of 8,000 yen. GamesRadar reports a UK price of £44.99.

The Nano connects through Xbox Wireless or Bluetooth. Microsoft lists Xbox consoles and Windows PCs as compatible. It also supports iOS and Android devices. Select Smart TVs are compatible too. The controller keeps the standard Xbox layout in a smaller body, making it a portable option for players switching between devices. Microsoft has not specified battery life or provided further technical details.

Pre-orders are open in the United Kingdom and United States. Australia and Canada are also on the list, along with Japan and New Zealand. Microsoft's initial availability covers countries across Europe and Asia. Latin American markets are included as well, with additional countries to follow. Availability varies by market, so the $49.99 US price does not apply everywhere.

For the holiday period, Microsoft is partnering with Samsung on a limited-time promotion in the United States. Buyers of eligible Samsung TVs will receive an exclusive XBOX Nano Controller and two months of Game Pass Ultimate. The offer is available only to new Game Pass subscribers. Samsung's Gaming Hub includes the Xbox app, which can stream hundreds of Game Pass games directly to a television in participating regions when a controller is paired.

Microsoft is also working on a similar United States offer involving Meta Quest devices. The company has described it as a planned deal, not a completed promotion. The proposed bundle would give new subscribers the Nano and two months of Game Pass Ultimate when they buy a Meta Quest device.

Bluetooth and Xbox Wireless provide connection options, but they do not guarantee identical features across every compatible device. Microsoft's announcement does not detail device-specific functions. It also leaves unanswered how long the battery lasts and how the Action Button works outside Xbox. The exact November launch date has not been provided.
