Digital Extremes has detailed major free updates for Warframe and Soulframe this autumn, including a new Warframe, six-player squad missions, a community event, and fresh content for Soulframe's alpha build
Digital Extremes has set the stage for a packed autumn in Warframe, officially confirming that the Iceblade of Narin update will launch on all platforms on 23 September 2026. According to the official Devstream overview from Digital Extremes, this update introduces the 66th Warframe, Narin, alongside a new six-player squad mode and a time-limited community event designed to unite the player base ahead of the next major narrative chapter, Warframe: Tau. The announcement was made during a special Devstream broadcast from Seoul, South Korea, marking the studio's first major community event in the region.
New Warframe and Squad Gameplay
The Iceblade of Narin update is headlined by the arrival of Narin, Warframe's 66th frame, who brings a unique crowd-control kit focused on sword and ice abilities. As confirmed by the official Warframe news page, players will be able to wield Narin's signature Nunchasa bow and dual Aksondol ice pistols, expanding the arsenal with new tactical options. The update also debuts Glacial Defiance, a six-player squad mode that repurposes existing mission levels with new objectives and challenges. Successful squads are transported to Melica's Labroom, where rewards are distributed based on performance. Digital Extremes has clarified that this is a free update for all players.

Epoch Operation and Citrine Prime
Following the Iceblade of Narin update, Warframe will launch Epoch Operation: Taubound on 15 October 2026, with the event running until 17 November. Digital Extremes positions this as a global community effort to prepare for the Warframe: Tau expansion later in the year, directly linking both Iceblade of Narin and Taubound as part of the lead-up to the "arrival of Warframe: Tau later this year." Players who have completed The Hex and The Old Peace quests will unlock a mini-quest, Prologue to Tau, which continues the story and reveals new details about the Lotus. Newcomers can participate after finishing the introductory Vor's Prize quest, collecting a resource called Moonflesh to help fuel the journey to the Tau Star System. Event-exclusive rewards are available even for those who have not met all quest requirements.
Coinciding with the main update, Citrine Prime Access will be available from 23 September. Citrine, a crystal-themed Warframe, receives a Prime variant with enhanced stats and gold-trimmed cosmetics. Players can unlock Citrine Prime instantly via the in-game marketplace or earn her through gameplay and crafting. The Prime Access release also includes the Steflos Prime shotgun, Corufell Prime scythe, and a range of cosmetic accessories for both Warframes and Operators.

Players accessing the game through this storefront during the launch window will receive the Valentine Color Picker and Manegarmr Ephemera as limited-time bonuses. Soulframe and Community Initiatives
Soulframe, Digital Extremes' new IP currently in early alpha, will receive its Preludes 16: Of Hook & Hound update in mid-September. Players who complete The Shewolf Snared Fable will begin raising a wolf cub that will eventually serve as a mount.
