Kettlebell: Inferno Hotel Steam Playtest Begins November 3

Kettlebell: Inferno Hotel will run a two-week Steam Playtest from November 3 to November 17. Players can clear nine floors, take on three challenge paths and earn cosmetic rewards for the full release.

The session opens at 18:00 UTC and closes at 18:00 UTC fourteen days later. That fixed window gives players a clear target, even though the full game's release date is still unknown.

Two weeks in Hell

Developer 70`Strike and publisher Valkyrie Initiative have scheduled the Playtest for November 3 at 18:00 UTC through November 17 at 18:00 UTC. Registration is open on the game's Steam page. Players can select "Request Access" in the Playtest section, and Steam will notify registered users when access begins.

The wider launch plan remains open. Kettlebell: Inferno Hotel is still in development for PC via Steam, with no announced date for the full version. The Playtest offers a limited look at the project, not proof that release is close. Steam's listing confirms the test is tied to the game, but the supplied research found no independent report on what happened after the announced November 3 to November 17 window.

Players must wishlist the game and follow the Valkyrie Initiative publisher page on Steam to qualify for the rewards. Those steps sit alongside participation as part of the unlock requirements.

Three ways to earn

The rewards cover different levels of commitment. Clear every Playtest level with any rank and the "Smelly" achievement unlocks the Smelly kettlebell. Players who finish the complete Playtest build can take on a harder task: an S rank on every level earns the Golden kettlebell skin and the "Golden Run" achievement.

The third reward has nothing to do with score chasing. Mr. K's yellow shirt is tied to the janitor's special quest. Players must find the charming maids to complete it and earn the "Wardrobe" achievement. Each reward is scheduled to arrive when the full game launches, not during the test.

The items are cosmetic, so they are not presented as gameplay advantages. The stated challenges cover full completion, high-rank play and a separate quest. The source material does not confirm whether any other progress will carry over.

A retro platforming test

Mr. K is an ordinary office clerk whose accidental death sends him to Hell with a kettlebell chained to him. He enters the strange Inferno Hotel, reaches for its Boss and tries to sort out what the game presents as a mistake. The route runs through nine floors filled with grotesque enemies, dark humour and fast 2D platforming.

The idea took shape during development of 70`Strike's earlier project, Skelethrone: The Chronicles of Ericona. The developer-focused GoNintendo devlog says the world draws on the nine circles of Hell from Dante's Divine Comedy. The hotel's floor-by-floor structure therefore has a literary source rather than a generic horror setup.

70`Strike describes the game as a 16-bit-inspired platformer shaped by 1990s classics. The label belongs to solo developer Dmitriy Bukhtatov, also known as Ksayfar. His previous work includes Skelethrone: The Chronicles of Ericona. By October 2026, he had spent almost two years making the pixel art, programming the game, composing its music and producing its sound effects himself.

The new project takes a more playful and eccentric approach. It uses hand-drawn pixel animation and treats Hell as a comic setting rather than a straight horror world.

According to the developer's GoNintendo devlog, the current structure contains nine floors and 40 levels. Each floor works as a hub between separate play areas. Players must clear the main zones before facing a boss. That 40-level figure adds context to the nine-floor description, but it does not confirm that every level will appear in the time-limited Playtest.

Movement also reaches beyond standard side-scrolling. Some sections let Mr. K run across walls and ceilings. Completed levels award a grade from E through S, along with currency for upgrades, outfits and other items. Bukhtatov is making the music too, drawing on jazz, blues and 1980s disco.

This is not described as a technical benchmark or a multiplayer stress test. Players are being given a chance to try the platforming route and its challenge structure before release. A pre-launch build cannot confirm the final game's performance or the amount of content outside the Playtest.

What players can confirm

The confirmed scope is compact: one PC platform, a fourteen-day window, nine hotel floors and three cosmetic rewards. The session starts at 18:00 UTC on November 3 and ends at 18:00 UTC on November 17. Those details are firm even though the full-game date is not.

Anyone seeking the time-limited test must register through Steam. The listing is not a purchase announcement. The full game's price, release timing and content beyond the announced nine-floor Playtest remain unconfirmed. The publisher has also provided no performance targets or versions beyond PC via Steam.

For an indie platformer, the format gives players a focused route to try. They can chase S ranks, explore the optional quest and earn items that are meant to carry into the full release. The test separates what can be played in November from what 70`Strike and Valkyrie Initiative still have to confirm.

Kettlebell: Inferno Hotel is offering access for a set period, unlike the persistent demo discussed in a persistent demo report. Players should not assume the build will remain available after November 17.

The three rewards add an extra reason to take part, but the practical details are straightforward. The Steam Playtest runs from November 3 to November 17, while the final launch date and broader release plans remain open.

A Playtest is an evaluation build, not a promise about final quality. It may contain selected levels or systems and can change before launch. The rewards are the confirmed long-term benefit, while performance, content scope and release timing still require separate confirmation from 70`Strike and Valkyrie Initiative.
