Star Wars Galactic Racer launches on Amazon Luna

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is now available on Amazon Luna alongside its worldwide release. Prime members in eligible regions can play the single-player campaign without a console or a download.

Repulsorcraft are tearing across the galaxy on Amazon Luna. Star Wars: Galactic Racer launched there on October 6, 2026, alongside its worldwide release. Prime members in eligible regions can start the single-player campaign on day one without owning a console or waiting for a download. That gives Amazon's cloud service a major new release to offer subscribers.

Luna gets the launch

The Luna edition arrived on October 6, 2026, at the same time as the versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The PlayStation 5 version is listed as Enhanced for PS5 Pro in the PlayStation Store.

Access to the Luna version requires Prime membership. Eligible users get the single-player campaign without an extra game charge, although availability still follows Luna's existing territory coverage.

British studio Fuse Games developed the game. The studio was founded by veterans of Burnout and Need for Speed. Secret Mode Limited is listed as the console publisher.

Retail versions for consoles and PC cost £49.99, according to Metro. Amazon Prime subscribers can play through Luna without buying the game separately, as long as their subscription remains active.

Amazon's Head of Gaming, Jeff Gattis, said the launch shows that Luna can deliver major releases at the same time as other platforms. The practical difference is simple. Players can start the campaign through streaming instead of buying a console or waiting through a lengthy download.

The Verge points to a limitation for a racing game built around split-second reactions. Streaming delay can affect cloud controls. No independent performance testing or technical measurements are provided here.

Racing in the New Republic

The game is set early in the era of the New Republic. Its story centres on the Galactic League, an unsanctioned racing circuit built around dangerous courses, rival pilots and powerful syndicates.

Darius Pax creates the league while seeking a new golden age for racing across the galaxy. Players take the role of Shade in a runs-based campaign. Route choices, event selection, upgrades and vehicle setups shape each run.

That structure gives players a real decision before each race. They must choose where to go and how to develop their vehicle before trying to survive long enough to join the Galactic League's elite pilots.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer launched on October 6, 2026, with a single-player campaign on Amazon Luna and Prime access in eligible regions. The Luna version also includes two extra modes, Arcade and Scenarios.

Cross-platform multiplayer is planned for a later update. It is not part of the launch feature set.

Four ways to ride

The racing system uses distinct repulsorcraft classes. Landspeeders favour aggressive takedowns and controlled cornering. Speeder bikes combine hard braking with explosive acceleration. The new skim speeder rewards momentum and precise lines through narrow gaps.

Podracers return as the fastest option. Their extreme speed restricts them to races against other podracers.

These classes are more than cosmetic choices. Each vehicle handles differently, changing how players approach the same course. Mixed races can create unpredictable encounters as handling styles and racing lines collide.

Arcade events focus on short objectives or time attacks. Scenarios offer longer runs with different rules and characters.

The campaign is not the only measure of the game's value. As with the earlier launch report covering another release-day update, the useful distinction is between what is available now and what has been independently tested. This announcement confirms access and features, but it provides no frame-rate figures, latency results or comparison for Luna.

Tracks across the galaxy

The Galactic League moves through familiar and new environments. On Jakku, the Graveyard of Giants sends racers between wrecked Star Destroyers and AT-ATs. Ando Prime tests momentum across frozen terrain. Sentinel I adds toxic fumes and acid rivers that can interfere with engines.

More locations open as players progress. Sebulba returns alongside new rivals and characters.

The game's main appeal is clear: it combines a Star Wars setting with a racing structure players can repeat. Routes, events, upgrades and vehicle classes leave room to experiment.

The launch information does not confirm multiplayer support on Luna at release. Product information says cross-platform multiplayer is due later. It also gives no technical targets or comparison between the cloud version and local releases.

Amazon Luna offers a simple way for Prime members to enter the game rather than a separately detailed platform edition. It puts the campaign within reach on launch day, but the announcement is an access update, not proof of matching performance across platforms.

Cloud streaming removes the need for a download and console ownership. It still depends on the player's connection and the service's delivery of each frame. The supplied material does not measure those conditions.

The launch also fits a change in Luna's business model. In April, Amazon moved a substantial part of the service's catalogue into Prime and removed third-party stores, separate subscriptions and the Bring Your Own Library feature.

Luna is now mainly subscription-based. Prime includes a Luna Standard library, while Luna Premium is a paid tier.

That makes Galactic Racer's inclusion notable. Amazon is using a simultaneous major release to show what subscribers can access through the cloud, rather than presenting Luna only as a separate game marketplace.
