The foundation's mission is to improve the physical and mental health of children facing autism or cancer by providing financial assistance, educational resources, and practical support.
Sega donated the motorcycle to the foundation after its promotional use concluded. The Dark Rider bike was manufactured by Bourget's Bike Works in partnership with Sega, Oil Sweat & Gears, and Atmospherics SFX. While inspired by Shadow the Hedgehog's on-screen vehicle, the auctioned motorcycle is not the same model used in the Sonic 3 film. It is equipped with a 1,750cc S&S Super Stock engine, Edelbrock cylinder heads, and an Ultimate six-speed gearbox. However, the bike is not currently operational-its fuel tank is a foam replica, and significant work would be required to make it roadworthy.
Despite its non-functional status, the motorcycle stands as a notable piece of video game and film memorabilia. It has previously appeared at events such as Gamescom to promote Shadow's cinematic debut and will be on display at the British MotoGP at Silverstone ahead of the auction.
