Militsioner Announced for PC, Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass in 2027

Militsioner, a first-person city exploration game with a surreal twist, has been officially revealed for PC, Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass, with a 2027 release window confirmed during the Xbox @ Gamescom Showcase

Militsioner, the upcoming first-person immersive sim from TALLBOYS and publisher CRITICAL REFLEX, has been officially announced for release in 2027 on PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, as well as Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass for both PC and console. The announcement was made during the Xbox @ Gamescom Showcase, confirming that the game will be available across multiple platforms from launch. Militsioner is described as a surreal, kafkaesque city exploration experience, where players must navigate a sprawling urban environment under the constant surveillance of a Colossal Policeman.

Gameplay and Core Features

Players take on the role of an ordinary citizen who finds themselves unexpectedly arrested and must find a way to escape the city. The game promises a non-linear structure, allowing players to choose their own approach to each obstacle-whether that means running, hiding, sneaking, lying, or even snitching. Every character in the city, including the giant Policeman, has a dynamic mood system that can be influenced through conversation, gifts, or actions. The world itself is designed to be reactive, with changing schedules, real-time flooding events, and even eclipses that alter the environment and open up new paths.

Militsioner's approach to player freedom is central to its design. The game encourages experimentation, with multiple solutions to every problem and a city that evolves based on player choices. Relationships with NPCs are managed through a system reminiscent of Tamagotchi, where keeping residents happy-or at least neutral-can be as important as avoiding the Policeman's gaze. The developers have also confirmed that the city will feature a day-night cycle and emergent events, adding further unpredictability to each playthrough.

Platforms, Release Window and Wishlist Availability

The game is scheduled for release in 2027, with simultaneous availability on PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass for both PC and console. No specific release date has been provided, and there is currently no mention of a PlayStation or Nintendo version. Players interested in following the project can wishlist Militsioner now on Steam, Xbox, and the Microsoft Store. The announcement follows a trend of immersive simulation titles targeting broad platform launches, as seen with other recent police-themed games such as the newly revealed Police Simulator for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

While the announcement trailer and official descriptions highlight the game's atmospheric tone and unique mechanics, no extended gameplay footage has been released to date. The development team has not yet detailed minimum or recommended PC specifications, nor have they confirmed performance targets for Xbox Series X|S. Further updates are expected as the project progresses towards its 2027 launch window.

Development Background and Publisher Details

TALLBOYS, the studio behind Militsioner, previously developed Where The Clouds End and Pandemic Express, both of which focused on atmospheric environments and player-driven action. The team has expanded since their earlier projects, with Militsioner representing their most ambitious title to date. CRITICAL REFLEX, known for publishing genre-blending indie games, is handling the release, while the CR Channel label will focus on the game's horror elements and community engagement.

Players can follow development updates via TALLBOYS and CR Channel on X/Twitter, or join the CR Channel Discord for community discussions. Media enquiries are being managed by Sandbox Strategies on behalf of CRITICAL REFLEX. As with many indie projects, the final release date and feature set may evolve as development continues, and players are advised to monitor official channels for the latest information.

Immersive sims like Militsioner often rely on complex systems that interact in unpredictable ways, offering players a high degree of agency within a reactive world. This genre is characterised by open-ended problem-solving, emergent gameplay, and environments that respond dynamically to player actions. As a result, development timelines can be difficult to predict, and final performance or feature parity across platforms may only be confirmed closer to release.
