War Robots Clears $50 Million on Steam

MY.GAMES says War Robots has earned more than $50 million on Steam over its lifetime. The platform has more than 3.1 million registered users, and console players have joined the franchise's shared matchmaking pool.

Pixonic launched War Robots as a mobile-only free-to-play game more than 12 years ago. Its first PC release came later, opening a route to Steam.

MY.GAMES says the Steam edition has now passed $50 million in lifetime revenue. By 2026, Executive Producer Boris Burangulov said, the game had more than 325 million registered users overall and had surpassed $1 billion in cumulative revenue.

From mobile to PC

Pixonic developed War Robots as MY.GAMES' flagship tactical mobile shooter. The move to desktop began on April 5, 2018, when the game launched on Steam. That release brought its mech combat to PC and kicked off a wider platform expansion. According to App2Top, the Steam edition crossed the $50 million mark roughly eight and a half years after launch.

Steam has also given newer projects a route to PC audiences, including WreckZone's Steam arrival, covered by NGB. War Robots took a different path: its PC edition arrived after the game had spent years building a mobile audience. Executive Producer Boris Burangulov called the $50 million Steam milestone a major achievement for a game originally created for mobile devices. He described the Steam version as an early step in the franchise's expansion.

The franchise has since added consoles. Following this year's console release, players on mobile and PC can match with console pilots in one global pool. MY.GAMES says the game's tactical design lets mobile players compete alongside PC users and console players without handicaps. The announcement gives no further detail on how matchmaking or balance works.

What the figures show

MY.GAMES reports more than $50 million in lifetime revenue for the Steam edition. It also reports over 3.1 million registered users on Steam, with peak daily active users at around 24,000. App2Top reported those figures and noted that 24,000 is a peak, not an average daily audience.

The measures track different things. Revenue records purchases over time. Registered users count accounts. Peak DAU marks the highest reported point in daily activity. The announcement gives no date or measurement period for that peak.

Steam's numbers show a substantial PC presence, but they do not reveal the game's total revenue across every platform. Nor do registered-user totals show how many people still play. The peak daily-active figure offers an engagement measure, though the missing date and measurement period leave its context unclear.

That gap matters for a long-running free-to-play game. Lifetime revenue can accumulate over years, while registered users are not the same as concurrent players. The Steam metrics describe that edition's accumulated reach and commercial performance. Burangulov's separate franchise-wide figures put the total at more than 325 million registered users and over $1 billion in cumulative revenue by 2026.

One shared player pool

Cross-platform matchmaking is the clearest player-facing change in the expansion. Mobile and PC players can now match together. Console pilots have joined the same pool, rather than remaining in a separate platform group. MY.GAMES says the game's tactical design lets mobile players compete on equal footing without handicaps, but it has not provided technical details on matchmaking or balance.

War Robots is available on iOS. Players can also get it on Android. An APK is available. Console versions are offered on PlayStation and Xbox. PC players can access the game through Steam or MY.GAMES.

Cross-play puts players on different platforms in the same multiplayer environment. Cross-progression is separate: it lets account progress or saves transfer between platforms. The shared matchmaking pool confirms cross-play; the available information does not establish whether War Robots supports cross-progression or shared saves.
