Jujutsu Kaisen RUMBLE: SURVIVATON Reveals New Bosses and Playtest Date

Shueisha Games has revealed new key art for Jujutsu Kaisen RUMBLE: SURVIVATON, confirming Kenjaku and Naoya Zen'in as boss characters and announcing the first public playtest at Tokyo Game Show 2026

Shueisha Games has officially unveiled new key art for the upcoming survivors-royale title Jujutsu Kaisen RUMBLE: SURVIVATON, illustrated by MAPPA, during the Juju Fes 2026 event in Tokyo. The announcement marks a significant update for the game, which is scheduled for release in 2026 and coincides with the fifth anniversary of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. Alongside the new artwork, the publisher confirmed that Kenjaku and Naoya Zen'in will join the roster as boss characters, expanding the line-up of antagonists players will face.

New Boss Characters and Key Art

The newly revealed key art, created by MAPPA, showcases the visual direction of Jujutsu Kaisen RUMBLE: SURVIVATON and highlights the addition of Kenjaku and Naoya Zen'in as boss encounters. These characters join a cast that already includes ten previously announced fighters, with the total roster expected to exceed twenty playable and non-playable characters at launch. The game is being developed by poncle, the studio behind Vampire Survivors, and will feature pixel-art renditions of familiar Jujutsu Kaisen characters in a competitive, survival-focused format.

Jujutsu Kaisen RUMBLE: SURVIVATON is designed as a battle royale experience, supporting up to eight players online, with both solo and multiplayer modes available. Players will compete for leaderboard positions by battling cursed spirits and rival exorcists, aiming to be the last one standing. The inclusion of new boss characters is intended to add variety and challenge to the core gameplay loop, though further details on their mechanics have not yet been disclosed.

Tokyo Game Show 2026 Playtest

The first public playtest build of Jujutsu Kaisen RUMBLE: SURVIVATON will be available exclusively at the Tokyo Game Show 2026, running from 17 to 21 September at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Attendees will have the opportunity to try the game at the Shueisha Games booth, with an original giveaway item promised for those who meet specific requirements, though the nature of this item has not yet been revealed. The event will be split between business and public days, with the playtest accessible throughout the show's duration.

This approach mirrors the strategy seen with other major game updates and expansions, such as the recent ARK: Astraeos Heaven & Abyss update, which introduced new bosses and content across multiple platforms and was covered in detail in our report on ARK: Astraeos. Early public playtests at major events have become a common method for developers to gather feedback and build anticipation ahead of release.

Platforms, Features and Release Details

Jujutsu Kaisen RUMBLE: SURVIVATON is planned for release on Nintendo Switch™2, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. The game will support up to eight players online, with a solo mode also confirmed. Language support will include Japanese, English, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Korean, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. Pricing and content rating have yet to be announced, and no information has been provided regarding special editions or pre-order bonuses.

The publisher has not yet detailed the technical performance targets for each platform, such as frame rate or resolution, nor has it confirmed whether cross-play or cross-progression will be supported. The game's genre is described as "Survivors Royale", and it will be published by Shueisha Games with development led by poncle. The official release window remains 2026, with no indication of a more specific launch date at this stage.

What Remains Unconfirmed

While the announcement provides a clearer picture of the game's direction and content, several important details remain unaddressed. There is no gameplay footage available beyond the newly released key art, and the mechanics of boss encounters with Kenjaku and Naoya Zen'in have not been demonstrated. It is also unclear how progression, monetisation or live-service elements will be handled, if at all. The publisher has not commented on whether the Tokyo Game Show playtest will be followed by a wider beta or demo for players unable to attend the event in person.

Further updates are expected as the game approaches its scheduled 2026 release, particularly regarding technical performance, accessibility features and post-launch support. Until then, the Tokyo Game Show playtest will serve as the first opportunity for hands-on impressions and player feedback.

Battle royale games such as Jujutsu Kaisen RUMBLE: SURVIVATON typically rely on a combination of solo and multiplayer modes, with online play requiring stable server infrastructure and effective matchmaking. Performance targets like frame rate and resolution can vary significantly between platforms, especially when supporting up to eight concurrent players. Early public playtests at events like Tokyo Game Show allow developers to identify technical issues and balance concerns before launch, but the experience may differ from the final retail build due to ongoing development and optimisation.
