GunZ: The Duel Remaster Arrives on Steam Worldwide This August

Masangsoft has confirmed GunZ: The Duel will launch globally on Steam on 13 August 2026, featuring remastered visuals, a modernised UI, expanded customisation and the removal of pay-to-win mechanics

Masangsoft has officially announced that GunZ: The Duel, its third-person action shooter, will launch worldwide on Steam on 13 August 2026 at 5:00 p.m. PDT, with regional equivalents including 9:00 a.m. KST on 14 August. This remastered release brings the cult classic back to PC with a series of changes shaped by months of global playtesting and direct community feedback. GunZ: The Duel is known for its acrobatic movement, wall-running, and the highly technical "K-Style" combat, all of which return in this updated version.

Key Changes for the Steam Release

The Steam edition of GunZ: The Duel introduces several significant updates. All pay-to-win elements have been removed, meaning equipment is now purely cosmetic and stat advantages tied to progression are gone. Weapons have been rebalanced based on type and weight, aiming to create a fairer, skill-driven environment. Visuals have been remastered to modern standards while retaining the original's distinctive style, and the user interface has been overhauled with features such as an adjustable field-of-view slider, improved kill notifications, and enhanced hit markers. Quality-of-life improvements requested by the community are also included.

Customisation options have been expanded, with hundreds of new outfits and visual effects, including new dash effects, allowing for greater player expression. The launch will also introduce new maps, game modes, and equipment items. Masangsoft has committed to supporting both official tournaments and community-run competitions, aiming to foster a more active competitive scene.

Community and Creator Support

Masangsoft is placing a strong emphasis on community engagement for this relaunch. The official Discord server will serve as the central hub for global players, and integration with Medal.tv will make it easier for users to capture and share gameplay clips. Twitch Drops will be available at launch, rewarding viewers for watching participating streams, and the LUDENUS CREATORS programme is set to provide direct support for content creators. These initiatives are designed to encourage both competitive and creative participation within the GunZ community.

For those interested in other recent Steam shooter releases, the run-and-gun title Neon Inferno was recently discounted as part of Steam's Cyberpunk Fest, offering a different take on fast-paced action for PC players. Details on that promotion can be found in our coverage of Neon Inferno's Cyberpunk Fest discount.

Release Timing and Platform Details

GunZ: The Duel will be available exclusively for PC via Steam, with the global launch scheduled for 13 August 2026 at 5:00 p.m. PDT, 9:00 p.m. BRT, and 14 August at 12:00 a.m. GMT / 9:00 a.m. KST. The Steam store page is already live in English (GB), and Masangsoft has not announced any plans for console or mobile versions at this stage. The company has stated that ongoing support and additional content updates are planned post-launch, but specific details on future expansions or seasonal content have not yet been confirmed.

For players returning to GunZ or discovering it for the first time, the removal of stat-based progression and the focus on cosmetic customisation mark a notable shift from the original's monetisation model. The remaster aims to deliver a more balanced and accessible experience, with technical improvements and community features designed to support both casual and competitive play.

Remasters differ from remakes in that they update the original game's visuals, interface, and systems while preserving core gameplay and content. In the case of GunZ: The Duel, the remaster retains the signature movement and combat mechanics but modernises graphics, UI, and progression systems to meet current PC standards. This approach allows returning players to revisit familiar gameplay with technical improvements, while new players experience the game in a form that aligns with contemporary expectations for online shooters.
