Rockstar has opened pre-orders for a $399.99 GTA VI merchandise box filled with Vice City collectibles and Macca the Gator. The game is not included.

Rockstar Games wants players to pay $399.99 for a Grand Theft Auto VI collector's box that does not include Grand Theft Auto VI. Officially called The Goodtime State: Vice City Collection, it is a standalone merchandise package built around Leonida, Vice City and Macca the Gator. It is not a game edition.

The box is already available to pre-order in North America and Europe ahead of its November 19, 2026 launch. It is sold separately from GTA VI. Rockstar's own store listing says the game is not included.

A collector's box without GTA VI

The collection centers on Macca the Alligator from the hit TV series taking Leonida by storm. The main item is a 6" Macca the Gator figure with a stash compartment. The box also includes matte black GTAVI Oakley® Frogskins™ sunglasses with Prizm Sapphire lenses and a New Era® 9FORTY A-Frame snapback hat with Vice City Leonida details.

The rest of the package leans into the fictional world's beachside setting and criminal oddities. Buyers get a Macca the Gator magnetic mirror and a Vice City swizzle spoon. There is also a Vice City razor blade keychain, a Leonida Keys crossbody bag and a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass.

The package includes a Leonida Keys enamel pin set in a custom metal tin, premium stickers in a stash bag and a double-sided souvenir poster showing the full Leonida landscape. The listed contents also include display accessories. That fits Rockstar's description of the product as physical merchandise for dedicated fans, not a conventional collector's edition.

Rockstar lists the box at approximately 48.26 cm x 34.29 cm x 31.75 cm. It is a substantial display package. The collection details do not list game access, digital extras or a download code.

The Rockstar Games Store calls it a "premium Collector's Box featuring all the essentials for a good time." IGN and TechRadar also describe it as merchandise rather than an edition of the game.

Four times Red Dead's price

The price sets this box apart. Red Dead Redemption 2's Collector's Box cost $99.99 and also left out the game. Diablo IV's Limited Collector's Box cost $96.66 and did not include in-game items either. Rockstar and Blizzard sold those packages as companion products that could be paired with a separate physical or digital purchase.

EA's Mass Effect Legendary Cache kept the same separation. It included a wearable 1:1 replica of Shepard's helmet and a steel game case. It did not include the game or a download code.

The GTA VI box uses that same model, but at a much higher price. At $399.99, the Vice City Collection costs roughly four times as much as the Red Dead Redemption 2 and Diablo IV boxes.

It also costs more than Sony's recent collector's editions, which were priced at $230 to $250 and included a digital copy of the game. Grand Theft Auto V's Collector's Edition launched at $149.99 in 2013 and included the game itself. Quartz likewise stressed that the $399.99 box is sold without a copy of GTA VI. The price is for merchandise, not a bundled game.

What buyers actually receive

Pre-orders are currently limited to North America and Europe. Rockstar says more information for Asia, Latin America and Australia will follow. Availability in those regions has not been confirmed.

The company has also teased more GTA VI clothing and collectibles for its store. The collection's stated release and shipping date is November 19, 2026, according to the Rockstar Games Store listing and independent preorder reporting.

The calculation is simple. This package is for buyers who want physical items tied to Vice City and Macca the Alligator. Anyone who wants to play Grand Theft Auto VI will need to buy the game separately.

Rockstar has not given a game price as part of this announcement. The total cost of owning both products cannot be worked out from the available information.

The same player-first pricing lens used in NGB's earlier breakdown applies here. A high price does not automatically make a product poor value. It does make the contents and buying terms hard to ignore.

This is not a premium edition with an unusually expensive game attached. It is a separate collector's product whose value rests entirely on its memorabilia.

The risk sits with the buyer

Rockstar is betting that anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI will make a $399.99 box attractive even without the central software. Rockstar and retailers present the collection as limited. Independent coverage has also reported that quantities are restricted.

That does not change what the product is: a luxury accessory purchase rather than a way to secure the game.

The comparison with Grand Theft Auto V makes the difference clear. In 2013, Rockstar's $149.99 Collector's Edition combined the game with physical extras. The new package costs $250 more and removes the software entirely. It replaces a conventional premium edition with a merchandise-first model.

That approach works only if buyers judge the figure, branded accessories, bag, glassware and other objects on their own. Players mainly interested in Grand Theft Auto VI get no shortcut and no bundled value.

Rockstar has made the split clear. The game is one purchase. The spectacle around it is another.

A collector's box without a game is not a contradiction when it is sold as a companion package. The distinction matters because it changes how the price should be judged.

This $399.99 release is best understood as an expensive piece of GTA VI merchandise, not a traditional collector's edition. The memorabilia may justify the cost for dedicated collectors. For ordinary players, the sensible move is to treat the Vice City Collection as optional and wait for separate game pricing before deciding what Grand Theft Auto VI will actually cost.
