Kodansha Ltd. has confirmed that BOKURA, the cooperative puzzle adventure from tokoronyori, will arrive digitally on Nintendo Switch 2 on 29 July 2026, priced at $4.99, with pre-order discounts and GameChat support

Kodansha Ltd. has officially announced that BOKURA, the cooperative puzzle adventure developed by indie creator tokoronyori, will be released digitally for Nintendo Switch 2 on 29 July 2026. The game will be available for $4.99, with a 20% discount offered to those who pre-order. BOKURA first appeared on Steam in 2023, where it received strong player feedback, and is now making its debut on Nintendo's latest hardware.

Gameplay and Features

BOKURA centres on two boys who run away from home and awaken to find their realities transformed. Each player experiences a different world-one sees a landscape dominated by nature, while the other perceives a mechanical environment. The game is designed for cooperative play, requiring both players to communicate and solve side-scrolling puzzles together. On Nintendo Switch 2, BOKURA supports the GameChat feature, allowing players to coordinate directly through the console, though an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required for this functionality.

Release Details and Pricing

The digital release is scheduled for 29 July 2026, with a confirmed price of $4.99 in supported regions. Pre-orders are now open, offering a 20% discount ahead of launch. There is no mention of a physical edition at this stage. The Switch 2 version follows the original Steam release, and there is no indication of additional content or platform-exclusive features beyond GameChat integration. Players interested in other recent Kodansha Game Lab projects may recall that the division has also released and Roger and Wabisabi SushiDerby in recent months, expanding its presence on Nintendo and other platforms.

Kodansha Game Lab's Recent Activity

BOKURA marks the third title from Kodansha Game Lab in a two-month period, reflecting a period of increased output from the publisher's gaming division. The previous releases, and Roger and Wabisabi SushiDerby, have targeted both console and mobile platforms, with availability on Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, Android, and Steam. This pattern of frequent launches is consistent with broader trends in the indie and mid-tier publishing space, as highlighted by recent event coverage such as the Gamescom 2026 indie showcase line-up, which also emphasised digital-first releases and cross-platform strategies.

Cooperative puzzle games like BOKURA often rely on clear communication and synchronised problem-solving. On Nintendo Switch 2, the GameChat feature enables voice communication directly through the console, provided players have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription. This integration is intended to streamline the co-op experience, but it also means that access to the full feature set is dependent on maintaining an online membership. As with many modern console releases, online requirements and platform-specific features can shape how players experience cooperative and multiplayer titles.
