Studio Wildcard has added three creatures to ARK: Survival Ascended through Dragontopia, Fantastic Tames Season 1 and a free Therizinosaurus TLC update.
Three creatures have entered ARK: Survival Ascended in Studio Wildcard's latest content drop. Gargantar now towers over ARK: Dragontopia. Cerberax joins Fantastic Tames Season 1. The community-selected Therizinosaurus has also received a free TLC update covering movement, combat and harvesting.
Three different additions
This is not one content pack with the same access rules for everyone. Gargantar is in early access for owners of the ARK: Dragontopia expansion. Cerberax is the newest addition to Fantastic Tames Season 1. Therizinosaurus arrives in a free update, not a paid expansion.
Studio Wildcard announced the drop on September 30, 2026. The same announcement confirms that ARK: Dragontopia costs $29.99 and is available now. Its wider skyworld is scheduled to launch in December. Gargantar therefore gets a creature-focused introduction before the full aerial environment arrives.
The Steam page for ARK: Dragontopia also describes a December skyworld with new islands, items, transportation and mythical dragons. It lists the colossal sky-behemoth as part of the updated release plan.
On PS5, the September 30 patch added Gargantar to Dragontopia early access. It also delivered the Therizinosaurus TLC at no additional cost. IGN's official Gargantar trailer was published the same day.
A separate report from the German ARK fan community ark2.de said the content release was still scheduled for September 30. The full Unreal Engine 5.8 update, by contrast, was moved to October 28. The creature launch and engine upgrade are on separate schedules.
For readers tracking creature-focused survival releases, NGB has also covered Kong's Switch launch as another example of the genre's expanding range of large-scale threats and survival settings.
Gargantar feeds its power
Gargantar's main mechanic is tied to its appetite. The more it consumes, including creatures and resources, the stronger it becomes. Feeding is part of its role in battle, not just a visual detail.
The ARK Japan Official account on X confirmed this progression in its September 30 patch description.
The dragon can turn its enormous stomach into a weapon. It can swallow allies and hold them inside for protection. Its acidic mass attack lets it spit corrosive material at enemies. Enemies swallowed whole face that same space from the other side of the encounter.
That combination gives Gargantar a clear place in Dragontopia's aerial fantasy. The creature is built around size, consumption and attacks that disrupt enemies. It is not simply another mount with a different appearance.
The announcement confirms those abilities. It does not provide independent testing or performance data for the expansion.
Cerberax demands coordination
Cerberax offers a different way to tame a creature. Its three heads must be tamed separately, and each one responds to a different approach. One favours wrestling. Another can be won over with food. The third wants to join the hunt.
A single survivor can ride Cerberax after it is tamed. Its real strength appears when three survivors control the heads together.
The right head breathes fire. The left head spits venom. The centre head acts as a lightning catalyst and boosts the other two attacks into combined strikes.
This gives Cerberax an unusual co-operative control system within the survival sandbox. Each head has its own tactic, but the strongest attacks depend on the three roles working together.
Cerberax is now available alongside the Burrowbuck in Fantastic Tames Season 1. Enigmasaur is planned for Q4 2026.
Therizinosaurus reworked
The Therizinosaurus TLC update is the biggest overhaul in this drop. It revisits a familiar creature instead of adding a new one.
New animations give the Therizinosaurus a more expressive presence in the wild. A bounding hop helps it handle difficult terrain.
Its harvesting specialisation is now shown through changing claw shapes. A Therizino adapted for delicate foraging has longer, sharper claws. A power harvester shows worn and chipped rippers.
The visual difference is meant to show how an individual creature gathers resources before a survivor gets close enough to discover its defensive ability.
Whatever the claw style, Therizinosaurus keeps its vicious double-swipe attack. The update connects appearance with function without making the creature harmless outside its preferred harvesting role.
The official TLC trailer covered by IGN shows updated feathers, more responsive combat and controls, and reworked mobility. Studio Wildcard's announcement does not give a full technical breakdown of every change.
The Therizinosaurus TLC is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It therefore covers the current console and PC versions of ARK: Survival Ascended. Dragontopia ownership is not required.
The promotional material confirms the feature set. It does not establish frame-rate targets, resolution modes or independent performance results for this drop.
For players, the update offers three separate reasons to return. Dragontopia owners get a creature whose power grows through consumption. Fantastic Tames gets a co-operative three-headed mount. All players receive a more readable and capable Therizinosaurus through the free TLC update.
This is not a new standalone release. It is a focused expansion of the systems that give ARK: Survival Ascended's creature roster its weight.
Dynamic resolution changes a game's internal image quality so it can preserve performance when scenes become demanding. Upscaling then reconstructs that image for the display. Neither feature is mentioned in Studio Wildcard's announcement, and no platform-specific measurements are supplied here.
The confirmed evidence supports judging this drop by its creature mechanics and access conditions. Claims about visual quality or frame-rate stability are not supported by the available material.
