Tower Defense

4 stories
Tower Defense describes games in which players protect a route, base or objective by placing defences before and during waves of attackers. Tower selection, upgrade paths, enemy resistances, economy and map geometry create the central decisions, while heroes, active powers or movable units may add direct intervention.

The category remains distinct from conventional real-time strategy because enemies usually follow defined lanes and the defence network is the main instrument of play. Articles can cover stage solutions, tower synergies, difficulty curves, balance changes, co-operative modes, monetisation and the difference between classic lane defence and genre hybrids.
