Sente Release Date Set for 11 August with Full Single and Multiplayer

Oxobox Games has confirmed Sente will launch on Steam on 11 August, offering simultaneous-turn strategy for 1-6 players, a single-player story, puzzles, challenges and extensive board customisation

Sente, the simultaneous-turn strategy game from Argentinian developer Oxobox Games, will be released on Steam on 11 August 2026. The launch version is set to include both single-player and multiplayer modes, supporting up to six players in local or online matches. Players can expect a range of features at launch, including a story-driven campaign, curated puzzles, weekly challenges and a board editor for custom arena creation.

Launch Features and Game Modes

At release, Sente will offer a single-player campaign centred on Jade, a human protagonist aiming to prove that Sente is not just for robotic minds. The campaign takes place in the Robot Bar, where players face AI opponents across multiple floors, each with its own set of challenges and tutorials. Multiplayer is available for 1-6 players, with options for local play, online matches and AI-controlled bots. The game's simultaneous-turn system means all players make their moves at the same time, requiring careful prediction and tactical planning.

Beyond the main campaign and multiplayer, Sente includes a variety of curated puzzle scenarios and weekly online challenges. These challenges reset each week and offer cosmetic rewards such as skins and experience points. The board editor allows players to design and share custom arenas using a share code system, encouraging community-driven content and experimentation with new strategies.

Customisation and Community Sharing

Sente's board editor is designed to let players create, modify and share their own battlefields. Custom boards can be exported and distributed via share codes, making it straightforward to exchange creations within the Sente community or through the official Discord server. The game also supports randomised encounters against 2-6 opponents, and offers replay functionality so players can review and analyse their matches to refine their strategies.

Weekly challenges and curated puzzles are intended to keep the experience fresh, with new tactical scenarios and rewards introduced on a regular basis. The inclusion of multiple game modes-ranging from quick matches to team battles-means that the core mechanics can be experienced in a variety of formats, each demanding different approaches to board control and energy network management.

Development Background and Release Context

Oxobox Games, based in Argentina, is launching Sente as its first title after more than 15 years of experience in software development. The studio describes Sente as a "future chess" project that has been in conceptual development for two decades. Publishing support is provided by Curveball Games, which handles digital and physical distribution for indie and AA titles globally. Sente's release on Steam is scheduled for 11 August 2026, with no other platforms currently announced.

For players interested in other recent strategy and puzzle releases, the arrival of Sente follows a year that has seen a number of innovative multiplayer and party games, such as the digital launch of HELLO KITTY PARTY LAND on Nintendo Switch, which also emphasises community features and customisation.

What Remains Unconfirmed

While the launch feature set for Sente is extensive, some details remain unaddressed. Oxobox Games has not yet confirmed whether cross-platform play or console versions are planned, nor has it provided information on pricing or minimum PC requirements. There is also no indication of whether the game will support modding beyond the in-game board editor, or if additional content is planned post-launch. Preview and review codes are expected to be distributed to press and creators ahead of release, but no embargo or review period has been specified.

As with any new strategy title, the long-term success of Sente will depend on the stability of its online features, the depth of its tactical systems and the ongoing engagement of its player community. The inclusion of weekly challenges and community sharing tools suggests a live-service approach, but the extent of post-launch support will only become clear after release.

Simultaneous-turn strategy games like Sente differ from traditional turn-based formats by requiring all players to commit their moves at the same time, rather than waiting for each turn to resolve sequentially. This structure increases the importance of prediction and adaptability, as players must anticipate opponents' actions without direct knowledge of their choices. The result is a faster-paced, more dynamic tactical experience that rewards both planning and the ability to react to unexpected developments.
