Rogue Point leaves Early Access with new map, weapons and mod support

Crowbar Collective and team17 have launched Rogue Point out of Steam Early Access, adding a new map, extra weapons, a fire-wielding boss and full mod support for the four-player co-op shooter

Crowbar Collective and team17 have officially released Rogue Point from Steam Early Access, marking the game's transition to a full v1.0 launch. The four-player co-op shooter now features a broader range of content, including a new map, additional weapons, expanded cosmetic options and the introduction of mod support. This update aims to provide both returning and new players with a more varied and customisable experience, while reinforcing the game's focus on teamwork and evolving mission objectives.

New Content and Features

The v1.0 release introduces the Clinic as Rogue Point's fifth map, designed with tight corridors and enclosed spaces to encourage close-quarters tactics. Three new weapons have been added: the Mule small shotgun, KT50 semi-automatic carbine and A1M semi-automatic marksman rifle, each offering distinct playstyles. Cosmetic additions include chainmail armour, a security guard uniform and a lab worker outfit, allowing for further character customisation. The update also debuts a new boss enemy, the Oil Rig MERX, who uses fire-based attacks to challenge squads as they progress through missions.

Mod Support and Community Tools

One of the most significant changes with this launch is the arrival of mod support. Players can now create and share their own maps or modify existing locations, as well as design custom campaigns. Community-made maps can be uploaded directly to the Steam Workshop using Unreal Editor, and are automatically downloaded for anyone joining a host running custom content. This approach is consistent with Crowbar Collective's history of community-driven development, as seen with their earlier work on Black Mesa.

Gameplay Structure and Teamplay

Rogue Point's core gameplay remains centred on co-operative missions across five locations: the Airport, the Mall, the Office, the Oil Rig and the new Clinic. Each map is dynamically altered by the game's Parametric Design System, which changes layouts and objectives to keep matches unpredictable. Enemy MERX classes employ varied tactics, from aggressive rushes to long-range suppression, requiring squads to adapt and coordinate. Players earn in-game currency to purchase weapons and gear, with the option to risk funds for rare items through the Dead Drop system. Teamwork is further emphasised by mechanics for healing, reviving and sharing equipment among squad members.

Release Timing and Platform Context

Rogue Point is now available in its full release version on Steam for Windows PC. The game supports four-player online co-op and leverages Unreal Engine for both gameplay and modding tools. The addition of mod support places Rogue Point alongside other recent co-op shooters that have embraced community content, such as MineGeon: Renegades, which also launched with customisable expeditions and player-created maps-details of which can be found in our coverage of MineGeon: Renegades' Steam release. Crowbar Collective's move to support user-generated content reflects a broader trend in PC gaming, where modding communities often extend a game's lifespan and variety.

Early Access is a release model on PC platforms, particularly Steam, where games are made available to players before reaching their final version. This approach allows developers to gather feedback, test features and iterate on content with an active player base. While Early Access can accelerate development and foster community engagement, it also means that features, performance and stability may change significantly before the official launch. Rogue Point's exit from Early Access signals that the core gameplay and content are now considered complete, though ongoing updates and community mods are expected to continue shaping the experience.
