Myth of Empires: Throne Season 3 arrives on 3 September 2026, introducing the Shattered Isles map, new siege weaponry, Legendary Warriors, and a range of gameplay and quality-of-life changes for PC players
Myth of Empires: Throne is set to begin its third season, Era of the Shattered Seas, on 3 September 2026 at 14:00 UTC. The update brings a new standalone map, Shattered Isles, alongside a suite of gameplay changes, new siege equipment, and additional Legendary Warriors. Character pre-creation will be available from 31 August, giving players a short window to prepare ahead of the new season's launch.
Shattered Isles Map and Seasonal Structure
The headline addition for Season 3 is the Shattered Isles map, which departs from the open-world structure of previous content. This new environment comprises a main island and three medium-sized islands, accessible to players who reach the required level. The map is divided into a central PvP zone and surrounding PvE areas, with unique rules for construction and decay. Large Bosses will spawn at random intervals during set periods, and Guilds will compete for Season Points based on their damage contribution, with the top three Guilds earning the highest rewards. Notably, players can park large vehicles in PvE zones to reduce risk when not engaged in combat, but cannot place Boundary Markers or Territory Banners, and structures will decay more rapidly than elsewhere.
Season 3 also introduces five new Seasonal Talents, each focused on different aspects such as Apocalypse Orbs, Fury Skills, vehicle combat, survival, and counterattacks. These talents are designed to expand build diversity and progression options throughout the season.
Combat, Siege and Defence Updates
A major gameplay addition is the Skyshaker Cannon, a compact siege weapon that can be deployed on land within Boundary Marker coverage or mounted on Battleships. The cannon requires manual operation and uses two exclusive ammunition types, each suited to different combat scenarios. This is intended to provide new tactical options for both land and naval engagements.
Boundary Marker mechanics have been reworked to strengthen base defence, particularly on PvP servers. When an enemy enters a set range, the Boundary Marker will randomly target one opponent every five seconds, applying a punishment effect. Respawn cooldowns have been adjusted to favour defenders, and loot bags left in friendly territory will be automatically transferred to the Guild Depot after a period. Anti-air defences have also been added, with each Boundary Marker able to launch up to ten anti-air attacks per day against Glider users, with additional attacks purchasable using Copper Coins. Arrow Towers now support three new ammunition types and have increased base damage, further enhancing defensive options.
Vehicles, Legendary Warriors and Progression
Large vehicles, including Battleships and Biremes, have received durability increases and updated building rules, aligning Battleship construction with Air Fortress standards for greater deck-planning flexibility. The number and durability of Heavy Ballistae on Desert Ships have also been adjusted. Giant Kongming Lanterns now support dedicated storage and have revised decay rules.
Two new Legendary Warriors join the roster: Pang Tong, who brings unique farming and armour-crafting abilities to support Guild production, and Diao Chan, who specialises in ranged combat. Creature development systems have been expanded with new armour progression and Large Mount Mating features. These changes are intended to deepen both combat and resource management for Guilds and solo players alike.
Quality-of-Life Improvements and Season Schedule
All five professions have received skill balance changes, affecting damage, Stamina consumption, and combat pacing. The Crafter's Bench now features a "Repair Now" function, and adjustments have been made to Glider Stamina use and Pandora's Box placement limits. Further details on these and other changes are expected in the official Season 3 update announcement.
Season 2 will conclude on 29 August at 00:00 UTC, followed by a two-day Season Seal period. Servers will close on 31 August at 00:00 UTC, with Season 3 character pre-creation opening at 14:00 UTC the same day. The full launch of Season 3: Era of the Shattered Seas is scheduled for 3 September at 14:00 UTC. For those interested in how other live-service games are handling new content and progression, a recent update for Reality Break introduced new ships and campaign content, as covered in our report on Reality Break's Ship Types DLC.
Live-service games like Myth of Empires: Throne structure their ongoing content around seasonal updates, which typically introduce new maps, features, and progression systems on a fixed schedule. These seasons often include both free and paid content, with rewards and gameplay changes designed to keep the player base engaged. Understanding the timing and structure of these updates is key for players who want to maximise their progress and take advantage of new features as soon as they become available.
