Lee Joohee Joins Solo Leveling: ARISE With Prism-Based Combat Update

Netmarble has released a major update for Solo Leveling: ARISE, introducing Lee Joohee as a new SSR hunter, new story difficulties, and the Hall of the Monarchs challenge, alongside balance changes and a new weapon for Sung Jinwoo

Netmarble has delivered a substantial update to Solo Leveling: ARISE, expanding the action RPG's roster and gameplay options. The headline addition is Lee Joohee, Pilgrim of the Labyrinth, who arrives as a Light-element Buster SSR hunter. Her combat style is built around manipulating magical prisms, offering a distinct approach to ranged and area attacks. This update also introduces new story content, higher difficulty settings, and a fresh challenge mode for players seeking greater rewards and competition.

Lee Joohee's Combat Abilities

Lee Joohee's skillset is designed to leverage the prism mechanic for both offensive and tactical play. Her Reflecting Chain skill enables her to bounce a damaging beam through a prism, striking multiple enemies in its path. Lucent Release delivers a focused light attack to the area ahead, while Prism Blast channels energy from several prisms into a single point, causing a concentrated explosion. These abilities are intended to reward precise positioning and timing, adding a new layer of strategy to team compositions.

Alongside her arrival, the update brings the Sung Jinwoo-exclusive SSR weapon "Spirit Blade: Snowstorm", expanding build options for the game's central protagonist. The patch also includes balance adjustments for selected Sung Jinwoo weapons, other hunters, and certain artifact set effects, reflecting ongoing efforts to refine gameplay balance based on player data and feedback.

Expanded Story and Challenge Content

Players can now access Hard and Reverse Hard difficulties for Hidden Chapters 11 and 12, offering increased challenge and improved rewards for those who have progressed through the main campaign. The Simulation Gate season has also been refreshed, with higher difficulty levels now available for those seeking to test their builds against tougher AI opponents.

Looking ahead, Netmarble has scheduled the launch of the Hall of the Monarchs challenge mode for 3 September. This new content will see players face a series of increasingly powerful bosses, with each cleared stage awarding a base score. The Proof of Mastery system allows players to customise the challenge by selecting additional modifiers, increasing both the difficulty and the potential score. The Hall of the Monarchs will unlock after clearing Workshop of Brilliant Light Tier 10 and will operate on a two-week seasonal cycle, with randomised enemy line-ups and unique seasonal rewards such as special Titles and Frames for top performers.

Live-Service Structure and Balance Changes

Solo Leveling: ARISE continues to follow a live-service model, with regular updates introducing new content, balance changes, and seasonal events. The latest patch reflects this approach, with adjustments to weapon and hunter balance, as well as updates to artifact set effects. These changes are intended to keep the meta evolving and maintain engagement among both new and veteran players.

Netmarble's approach mirrors trends seen across the live-service genre, where ongoing content drops and balance patches are used to sustain player interest. Release Timing and Access Details

The update is available now for Solo Leveling: ARISE players. The Hall of the Monarchs challenge is set to open on 3 September, following the completion of the required in-game progression. Players can access the new content on supported platforms, with further details and ongoing announcements available via the game's official website and social channels. Netmarble has not announced any changes to platform availability or monetisation structure as part of this update.

Solo Leveling: ARISE is based on the popular webtoon and allows players to experience Jinwoo's journey, assemble teams of hunters, and summon the "Army of Shadows" using the series' signature phrase. The game remains in active live-service development, with regular content updates and balance patches forming a core part of its ongoing support.

Live-service games like Solo Leveling: ARISE rely on frequent updates, seasonal content, and balance adjustments to keep the player base engaged over time. This model differs from traditional boxed releases by introducing new features, characters, and challenges on a rolling basis, often tied to in-game events or seasonal cycles. For players, this means the experience can change significantly over months or years, with evolving metas and new content shaping how the game is played and enjoyed.
