DCKO Announced for 2027 with Real-Time PvP and DC Legends on Mobile

Drop Fake has revealed DCKO, a new mobile fighting game featuring 2-on-2 tag battles with DC Comics characters, real-time PvP, and PvE modes, officially licensed by Warner Bros and set for iOS and Android in 2027

Drop Fake, a studio formed by developers with experience in mobile fighting games, has officially announced DCKO, a new title bringing DC Comics characters to iOS and Android in 2027. The game is being developed under licence from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and will feature both single-player and multiplayer modes, including real-time player-versus-player (PvP) battles-a first for a DC mobile fighting game.

Gameplay and Modes

DCKO is structured around 2-on-2 tag team combat, allowing players to assemble teams of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains. Confirmed characters include Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Constantine, Superman and others, with each playable in both PvE and PvP. The game promises "pick up and play" arcade-style fighting, with an emphasis on quick entry into matches and a skill ceiling for advanced players. Players can chain combos, perform tactical assists, and customise their teams to suit different strategies, such as focusing on heavy hitters or damage-per-second roles.

Single-player content is delivered through a PvE mode called Stories, which features an overarching narrative and missions against familiar DC antagonists like Ra's al Ghul's League of Assassins, Amazo's robot army, and Trigon's demon hordes. Progression in PvE unlocks new abilities, stat boosts, and costumes referencing DC's comic history. Currency and experience points earned in PvE can be used to prepare characters for competitive multiplayer.

Multiplayer and Competitive Features

The headline feature for DCKO is its real-time PvP multiplayer, which allows players to challenge others globally and climb leaderboards with their chosen duos. This marks the first time a DC mobile fighting game has offered live PvP rather than asynchronous or AI-driven battles. The game will support team customisation, ability upgrades, and stat progression, with unlockable costume variants for both heroes and villains as players advance.

Leaderboards and competitive progression are intended to support a healthy multiplayer scene, though details on matchmaking, anti-cheat measures, and monetisation have not yet been disclosed. Drop Fake has indicated plans to share more about the game's competitive structure and community features closer to launch.

Visual Style and Release Timing

DCKO adopts a "Neo-Comic" art style, aiming to replicate the bold inks and energetic palettes of DC's comic books, with dynamic super move animations and recognisable locations such as Themiscyra, the Batcave, and Lazarus Pits serving as battle arenas. The game is scheduled for release on iOS and Android devices in 2027, with pre-registration now open via the official DCKO website. A beta is planned ahead of launch, but no specific dates or regional details have been confirmed.

According to the announcement, DCKO is being developed by a team with a track record in successful mobile fighting games, though no gameplay footage or technical demonstrations have yet been released. The current information is based on official descriptions and feature lists, with further details expected as development progresses.

Real-time PvP in mobile fighting games refers to matches where both players are actively connected and controlling their characters simultaneously, as opposed to battling AI-controlled teams or asynchronous opponents. This approach typically requires robust networking, low input latency, and effective matchmaking to ensure fair and responsive play. The addition of live PvP to DCKO sets it apart from previous DC mobile fighters, but the final quality will depend on server performance and network stability at launch.
