Bohemia Interactive Reveals New Games and Expansions at Gamescom 2026

Bohemia Interactive has presented a range of upcoming titles and major updates at Gamescom 2026, including new details on Cosmo Tales, DayZ Badlands, Everwind, and Nailcrown, with hands-on demos and future plans outlined

Bohemia Interactive has returned to Gamescom 2026 with a broad showcase of upcoming games and expansions, offering new details on its in-house projects and Bohemia Incubator collaborations. The event features hands-on opportunities for press and a clearer look at the studio's release roadmap, with a focus on both established franchises and new intellectual properties.

Cosmo Tales and Early Access Plans

The studio's latest original title, Cosmo Tales, is a third-person roguelite action-adventure inspired by 1970s sci-fi, featuring vibrant visuals and fast-paced gameplay. Players follow Cosmo and Shifty as they traverse a series of unusual dimensions. The game is scheduled to enter Early Access on Steam on 3 September 2026, with journalists at Gamescom able to try an early build. Bohemia Interactive has confirmed that post-launch development will target additional platforms, new vehicles, expanded story content, and features to improve replayability. Local co-op and an expanded in-game soundtrack are also under consideration for future updates.

DayZ Badlands and Platform Expansion

DayZ continues to maintain a significant player base, with the studio reporting around 250,000 daily active users across all platforms and a 2025 peak of over 650,000. At Gamescom, Bohemia Interactive has provided a behind-closed-doors look at the upcoming DayZ Badlands expansion, currently in development for PC. The team has also discussed the recent release of DayZ on Nintendo Switch 2 and outlined ongoing plans for future updates. The Badlands expansion is available to wishlist on Steam, but a final release date has not yet been confirmed.

Everwind and Nailcrown Updates

Everwind, developed by Enjoy Studio and published through Bohemia Incubator, is a first-person RPG sandbox survival game set among floating islands. Since its Early Access launch earlier this year, the game has sold over 260,000 copies and surpassed one million wishlists. At Gamescom, the team has announced the Winds of Creation update, which will introduce dedicated servers, modding support, and community-driven content, with console versions planned for the future. Nailcrown, a dark-fantasy boomer shooter revealed earlier in 2026, has been shown in a new hands-on demo for press, alongside a public trailer. The game combines high-speed gunplay, melee combat, and a dynamic gore system, with further details on its world and development process shared at the event.

Industry Context and Showcase Trends

Gamescom 2026 has seen a notable emphasis on hands-on demos and early-access announcements, with several studios using the event to highlight both new IP and expansions for established franchises. This approach mirrors the strategy seen in other recent Gamescom reveals, such as the unveiling of Cutout by 906 Games and Big Blue Sky Games, which was also accompanied by a playable demo for attendees. For more on this trend, see the coverage of Cutout's announcement at Gamescom 2026.

Early access releases have become a central part of the PC and console gaming landscape, allowing developers to gather player feedback and iterate on core systems before a full launch. This model can accelerate development of new features and help studios prioritise content based on community demand, but it also means that the initial release may lack some planned modes or polish. Players considering early access titles should be aware that features and performance can change significantly over time, and that roadmaps are subject to revision as development progresses.
