Blind Descent sets its Martian PC launch for December

META Publishing and Pokuch will launch Blind Descent on PC on 2 December 2026. A co-op playtest begins on 14 October, with cross-store multiplayer on the test roster.

The rescue mission goes wrong at a Martian excavation site. A crash leaves the survivor facing an alien infection, then a fight to get out alive from beneath the planet's surface.

Blind Descent enters Early Access on 2 December 2026. Players will be able to get it through Steam and GOG; the Epic Games Store is also among the announced PC platforms. Gematsu reports that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions are planned for the full release. The game was announced earlier in 2026 at the New Game+ Showcase, with its Early Access date revealed in October.

Choose what to become

The search for the missing crew and the science team leads through caverns filled with alien life. A mysterious growth threatens to mutate the survivor.

Players can pursue symbiosis with alien organisms to gain abilities such as telekinesis or wall running. That choice carries a risk: losing part of their humanity. They can also avoid infection and rely on technology instead. The announcement makes character development hinge on the survival strategy players choose.

Mutations may change how players move through the caverns, while technology offers another way to confront the dangers. The announcement has not explained whether either path can be reversed. It also leaves open how much of the story turns on that choice.

Survival beneath Mars

Blind Descent mixes exploration with crafting and combat. Players must manage infection and treat injuries to specific body parts. They also need to rest. Scanning the surroundings is another part of the survival routine.

The search for the missing crew includes recordings and logs. Radio calls are part of the trail, while an in-game codex tracks discoveries and helps players piece together what happened to the expedition. IGN China describes the project as a science-fiction survival game playable solo or with up to four players, as they explore Mars's underground and look for the missing expedition.

Traversal uses a grappling hook, with alien abilities available to players who embrace mutation. Environmental puzzles sit alongside encounters with alien creatures. The developers say different weapon types and enemy types call for different tactics, but the announcement offers no hands-on evidence about combat feel or enemy variety. It also gives no measure of how demanding the survival systems are in play.

Crafting is described as modular rather than recipe-led. Players can build and improve weapons, then make tools and medicine. Shelter construction is also planned. IGN China adds that the game includes tool-making and base development, with players adapting to a changing environment. The announcement does not say how many components or construction options Early Access will include. Pricing and system requirements have not been announced in the supplied details.

StopGame reports that Early Access is expected to last about a year. Console versions are planned to arrive alongside the full release, though no date for that release has been announced. Blind Descent is among META Publishing's upcoming games; Owlcat's publishing slate also includes Shadow of the Road.

Co-op gets an early test

A co-op playtest is scheduled to begin on 14 October 2026, before the Early Access launch. Online co-op supports up to four players. Crossplay is planned across Steam and GOG, with the Epic Games Store also supported. Quests and the world are shared, while inventories and mutations remain separate.

The announced purpose of the test is to try co-op. No end date or participation requirements have been provided. A release-date trailer accompanies the announcement, but the available details do not establish whether its footage is captured gameplay, which platform it came from or how closely it represents the Early Access build.

Gematsu and IGN describe Blind Descent as an open-world survival-adventure. The announcement has yet to specify which features will be available at Early Access launch, or give a date for the full release.
