Offworld and Knights Peak have released Update 12 for Starship Troopers: Extermination, expanding the X-11 map, introducing meteor showers, new missions, and bringing back The Galactic Front event with additional rewards
Offworld, working alongside publisher Knights Peak, has rolled out Update 12 for Starship Troopers: Extermination, delivering a significant expansion to the X-11 map and introducing new environmental and gameplay features. The update, titled "Attack on X-11", is now available as a free download for all players on PlayStation 5, Windows (Steam), and Xbox Series X/S. This patch nearly doubles the playable area on X-11, a mining and scientific colony set within the Tibannis System, and brings a new environmental hazard in the form of meteor showers, adding further unpredictability to ground combat against the Bugs.
X-11 Map Expansion and New Hazards
The expanded X-11 map now features additional build sites, combat zones, and mission locations, offering players more tactical options and fresh territory to explore. Six new mission types have been added across the planet, including three AAS, one ARC, one Horde, and one Hive Hunt scenario. The introduction of meteor showers as an environmental mutator means players must now remain alert to threats from above as well as from the Arachnid forces on the ground. These meteor events are designed to disrupt established strategies and force squads to adapt quickly during engagements.
Events, Missions, and Service Records
Update 12 marks the return of The Galactic Front, a limited-time event that proved popular in earlier cycles. This event brings new class and weapon daily missions-18 in total-alongside 21 new service records for players to complete. The update also introduces new Perks and the Morita Mk 3 weapon, expanding the arsenal and customisation options available to Deep Space Vanguard Troopers. Daily missions and service records are intended to provide ongoing objectives and progression incentives for both new and returning players.
Supporter Packs and Technical Improvements
Alongside the free content, two new paid cosmetic packs-the Toxic Sunrise Supporter Pack and Hydro Hydra Supporter Pack-are now available for £4.99/€4.99 each. These packs include themed helmet decals, weapon skins, visor colours, uniform palettes, HUD nameplates, and player banners. Update 12 also delivers a round of performance enhancements, optimisations, and quality-of-life improvements, though the full technical breakdown is detailed in the official patch notes. For those interested in other recent co-op shooter updates, the launch of No More Room in Hell 2 with cross-play support was recently covered in our report on its August release.
Starship Troopers: Extermination remains a 16-player co-op FPS inspired by the original film, with six unique classes and a focus on squad-based planetary combat. The game continues to receive regular updates, with new content and technical fixes aimed at maintaining player engagement and addressing community feedback. Update 12's combination of expanded map content, environmental hazards, and event-driven progression reflects the ongoing live-service approach adopted by Offworld and Knights Peak.
