Myth of Empires: Throne S3 Adds Skyshaker Cannon and Battleship Upgrades

Myth of Empires: Throne Season 3 will introduce the Skyshaker Cannon siege weapon and a reworked Battleship building system, expanding tactical options for players ahead of the Era of the Shattered Seas update

Myth of Empires: Throne is preparing for its third season, Era of the Shattered Seas, with a preview of two major gameplay additions: the Skyshaker Cannon siege weapon and a significant overhaul to Battleship construction rules. Both features are designed to broaden tactical choices and reshape how players approach large-scale combat, particularly in naval and siege scenarios.

Skyshaker Cannon Revealed

The Skyshaker Cannon is a new artillery piece that reflects the game's ongoing evolution of gunpowder and forging technology. Unlike previous siege weapons, the Skyshaker Cannon is more compact and can be deployed either on land within a Boundary Marker's area or mounted directly onto Battleships. This flexibility allows for rapid repositioning and varied use across different battlefields. The cannon requires manual operation by players, meaning it cannot be controlled by AI warriors, and its effectiveness will depend on player coordination and timing.

Two exclusive ammunition types are available for the Skyshaker Cannon. The Wallbreaker Round is intended for general use, offering high muzzle velocity and a flat trajectory for reliable damage against a range of targets. The Thornspike Round, by contrast, is optimised for anti-air roles, dealing increased damage to airborne threats such as Giant Kongming Lanterns and Aerial Fortresses, but is less effective against ground targets. Players will need to select ammunition based on the evolving conditions of each engagement.

Battleship Building System Overhauled

Season 3 will also introduce a reworked Battleship building system, moving away from the previous restriction that limited construction to the stern of the ship. Following the update, players will be able to place buildings and siege equipment freely across the entire deck, mirroring the system used for Aerial Fortresses. This change is intended to support a wider range of customisation, allowing for more specialised ship layouts tailored to different combat roles, whether focused on firepower, support, or unique tactical functions.

The new system is expected to make Battleships more versatile, transforming them from simple transport and combat vessels into mobile platforms capable of supporting complex strategies. The update will likely encourage experimentation with ship design and team coordination, as players adapt to the expanded possibilities for both offence and defence.

What Players Can Expect

These additions are part of a broader set of changes planned for Myth of Empires: Throne Season 3. The Skyshaker Cannon's manual operation and ammunition choices will reward teams that communicate and adapt quickly, while the Battleship building overhaul opens up new approaches to naval warfare. The preview confirms that these features are only the first of several updates planned for the Era of the Shattered Seas, with further content, maps, and system improvements to be revealed as the new season approaches.

At the time of writing, no specific release date for Season 3 has been announced. The preview does not confirm whether these features will be available on all platforms simultaneously or if there will be platform-specific differences at launch. Players should expect further details, including technical requirements and additional gameplay footage, as the season's release draws nearer.

In live-service games such as Myth of Empires: Throne, seasonal updates often introduce new mechanics, weapons, and systems that can significantly alter gameplay. Overhauls to building systems and the addition of new siege equipment typically require players to rethink established strategies, especially in large-scale multiplayer environments. As with any major update, the impact of these changes will depend on how they are balanced and integrated into the existing game structure.
