Good news, Soul Calibur fans. Namco Bandai has announced that Soul Calibur V has just gone gold, which means the team at Project Soul has completed development on the latest addition to the popular fighting game series.
Picking up 17 years after the events of its predecessor, Soul Calibur V will feature improved character customization and new gameplay features including the Critical Edge and Quick Move systems, plus the guest appearance of Ezio Auditore de Firenze from the Assassin’s Creed series.
Soul Calibur V will be available in North America on January 31st and in Europe on February 3rd. Alongside the standard retail edition, a special Collector’s Edition of the fighting game will also be available at launch. Packed in a specially designed ‘book’ box, the Collector’s Edition will include a high quality art book, a CD containing a selection of music spanning the history of Soul Calibur, the making-of videos, a DLC card for the Black Knight and White Knight armour sets, plus original artwork and letter on reproduction parchment paper signed by the team at Project Soul.
To add to that, if you pre-order either edition of the game from participating retailers, you will receive a code to unlock Dampierre as a playable character once you boot up the game.
If you’re the competitive type, soon after the launch of the game, Namco Bandai will be organising a tournament schedule to unite the community and let fans publicly demonstrate their weapon-wielding prowess. We’ll bring you more details as soon as Namco Bandai pass them on.
