It’s been rumoured by French site Xboxygen that Microsoft will be making an announcement regarding the next Xbox at the Las Vegas tech show CES this coming January.
According to Xboxygen the information comes from a source ‘very close’ to the company and comes after a previous rumour from the site stating a division called Loop is handling software development, while another named Infinity, will be working on the console.
The French site was also apparently told by their sources not to expect a big announcement for the project that was said to start back in 2005, but rather an outlining of the new console and what it can do. It then goes onto state the machine will contain a hex-core (six-core) CPU, an AMD graphics card and 2GB of DDR3 RAM.
It’s all speculation at the moment with nothing confirmed but as noises are made about the next gen consoles, the debate of whether a new console will be worth our coin so soon has been much discussed – especially with the prevalent notion that the ratio of improvement to cost won’t warrant an upgrade.
CES 2012 will be running from January 10th-13th and will most likely have many people keeping a close eye on it. So does a new system within the next couple of years appeal to you? Let us know what you think via the comments below.
