Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will not feature cross-play between PC and PS3.
The initial CS:GO trailer touted cross platform play as a feature to be included in the 2012 release but Valve’s Chet Faliszeck yesterday told Joystiq that is no longer the case.
“The beta has proved we want to update not just the beta, but the game itself post-launch frequently on the PC. To do that we need to separate the platforms so one doesn’t hamstring the other. So for that, we have removed the idea of cross-platform play — essentially make all platforms stronger by not mixing them.”
Perhaps it’s for the best, each platform will be treated as a seperate enitity and PlayStation 3 players will have a chance to compete.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be out sometime in summer 2012.
