Codemasters Announce F1 2012

Just before the real F1 season kicks off in Melbourne this weekend, Codemasters has today announced that F1 2012 will be launching worldwide this coming September for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

To accompany the announcement of the game, Codemasters revealed F1 2012 will feature a Young Driver Test mode, introducing you to the world of F1 via a range of tutorials and then challenging you to earn a place at a team for the upcoming season. The mode is inspired by its real-life counterpart where young drivers are given a chance to show their talent on the track.

No other major details regarding F1 2012 have been unveiled yet, but you can expect the game to feature the return of Germany’s famous Hockenheim circuit, the brand new Austin track that will host the US Grand Prix and the majority of F1 2011′s modes, including co-op play.

Codemasters topped off the announcement of the F1 2012 by releasing an interesting video following the exploits of Creative Director, Stephen Hood. Check it out below and be sure to let us know what you think.

The main challenge for F1 2012 will be to produce a game which actually delivers its core features without major flaws and bugs, It’s difficult to get really hyped for this due to that. If they get it right, F1 2012 will likely be my most played game that year… but I find it hard to be really confident in it happening.

Totally agree Toby. After last years instalment, I’m not confident at all. Codemasters made out before the release of F1 2011, that they had fixed all the bugs that featured in the previous title but if anything, there were more bugs in F1 2011 than there was in 2010. The last game was a complete and utter mess really and I’m praying that they nail F1 2012 but like you say, I’m not confident at all which is a shame.
